Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya faces allegations of financial and administrative misconduct

Former Minister and AK Party Vice President Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya is facing multiple allegations following a major fund scandal involving suspected market manipulation. Reports suggest Kaya and her husband, İlyas Kaya, gained over 2 billion TL through Özata Denizcilik shares shortly before a market crisis. Consequently, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has ordered the freezing of their assets.

In addition to financial misconduct, Kaya faces scrutiny regarding her professional history and administrative practices. Lawmakers and journalists have raised questions about the validity of her medical degree from Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine, noting potential discrepancies between her education timeline and her roles in the US and at İSBAK.

Furthermore, allegations have surfaced regarding her tenure as Minister of Family and Social Policies. It is claimed she replaced approximately 60 private secretary managers within 776 days, a practice critics argue was used to bypass civil service exams and appoint political allies to public positions. Parliamentary inquiries have been submitted to investigate these personnel appointments and the potential misuse of exceptional civil service status.
