Favara and Galatone honor local women reaching 100‑plus years

Favara marked the 100th birthday of Maria Agrò on 18 July 2026. The centenarian, born 18 July 1926, was praised for a lifetime of family dedication and involvement with the local Franciscan order. Mayor Antonio Palumbo presented a commemorative plaque to Agrò and a large “100” cake was served to the gathered community.

In Galatone, residents celebrated the 104th birthday of Maria Luisa Caputo (known as “Nonna Marisa”) on 17‑18 July 2026. The former dentist’s wife, born 17 July 1922, was honored by Mayor Flavio Filoni and local officials for her resilience, family devotion, and deep faith. The ceremony featured personal tributes from the town’s council and an appreciation of her role as a family pillar.

Both towns highlighted the longevity and community impact of their elder residents, underscoring regional respect for family values and local tradition.
