FC Barcelona signs German winger Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund
On 23 July 2026 FC Barcelona announced the signing of 24‑year‑old German international Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund. He has signed a five‑year contract running to 30 June 2031. The clubs disclosed a fixed fee of €22 million, with up to €7 million in performance‑related bonuses, and Dortmund will retain a percentage of any future resale.
Adeyemi joins Barcelona after four seasons in the Bundesliga, where he made 146 appearances and scored 36 goals. He began his senior career at RB Salzburg, moved to Dortmund in 2022, and is noted for his pace – recording a Bundesliga top speed of 36.65 km/h. The transfer reunites him with former Germany coach Hansi Flick, who gave Adeyemi his senior international debut in 2021. Barcelona’s statement said, “FC Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund have reached an agreement for Karim Adeyemi to become a new Barça player until 30 June 2031.” Dortmund’s sporting director added, “Karim has been an important part of Borussia Dortmund over the past four years.” Adeyemi was presented at Camp Nou, noting that “Flick is the main reason I am here.” The signing bolsters Barcelona’s attack following the departures of Robert Lewandowski and the arrival of Anthony Gordon.
