Raphinha named provisional captain of FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has appointed Brazilian forward Raphinha as the provisional first captain for the 2026/27 season. This decision follows the departures of Marc-André ter Stegen and Ronald Araújo, as well as an injury to Frenkie de Jong.

Raphinha will lead the team alongside provisional captains Pedri and Eric García. Flick noted that the leadership structure remains temporary until the squad is finalized, at which point a formal vote will be held among the players.

During the presentation of the team at the Joan Gamper Trophy, Raphinha delivered his first speech as captain. He used the platform to offer support to injured teammate Roony Bardghji, welcome new signings, and express his commitment to fighting for titles in the upcoming season.
