FC Barcelona pursues €210 million loan to fund summer sign‑ins
FC Barcelona has applied for a €210 million credit line, secured against future television‑rights revenues. The financing is intended to be drawn in two tranches of €105 million each – in July and November – and will mainly fund the club’s targeted summer acquisitions while also covering part of salaries and operating costs.
The loan is aimed at enabling the Catalans to sign high‑profile players identified by coach Hansi Flick and president Joan Laporta, notably Argentine striker Julián Álvarez, Portuguese full‑back João Cancelo and German winger Karim Adeyemi. Barcelona has already completed the €70 million (plus €10 million in bonuses) transfer of English forward Anthony Gordon. The club hopes the extra liquidity will help it meet La Liga’s 1:1 financial rule, strengthen the squad and mount a serious challenge for the Champions League title.
