FC Bayern and Manchester City draw 2-2 amid pyrotechnic disruption

FC Bayern München and Manchester City played to a 2-2 draw in their UEFA Women's Champions League matchup at Sportpark Unterhaching. Bayern initially held a 2-0 lead through a goal by Giulia Gwinn and an own goal, but Manchester City managed to equalize late in the match via a goal from Carlotta Wamser in the 86th minute.

The match was marred by the use of pyrotechnics on the pitch. Red and blue smoke canisters, colors associated with the local club SpVgg Unterhaching, were thrown onto the field shortly before halftime. Bayern director Bianca Rech criticized the officiating, stating, “The bengalo had been on the pitch for a long time... You have to interrupt. This is incredibly poorly managed by the referee.”

Despite the distraction caused by the smoke, Bayern players noted positive aspects of their performance, including strong combination play and winning duels, as they look toward future fixtures.
