FC Bayern dominates Bamberg in BBL season opener

FC Bayern München opened the new Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) season with a dominant 108:72 victory over the Bamberg Baskets. The match was highly anticipated due to the controversial summer transfer of coach Anton Gavel from Bamberg to Bayern.

Gavel’s move sparked significant tension, with Bamberg shareholder Michael Stoschek accusing him of breaking his contract through legal technicalities regarding a digital signature. Gavel has denied these allegations, stating that many claims made during the transition were inaccurate.

On the court, Bayern displayed significant strength, leading by 27 points at halftime. Six players scored in double digits, including Justinian Jessup and Johannes Voigtmann, both contributing 15 points. Following a loss in last season's finals to Alba Berlin, Bayern President Herbert Hainer emphasized the club's goal to secure the German championship this season.
