FC Sion unveils Cervin Coliseum stadium project with roller coaster

FC Sion has unveiled the Cervin Coliseum, a major stadium project designed to replace the club’s current home, the Stade de Tourbillon. Part of the ‘Sion 2030’ strategic plan, the new arena is estimated to cost approximately 450 million to 492 million Swiss francs (roughly R$ 2.8 billion).

The project features a unique design that includes a roller coaster integrated into the structure, circling the stands and the exterior of the arena. The stadium is intended to serve as a year-round entertainment and tourism hub in the Alps, featuring a capacity for 15,000 people, a hotel, and spaces for concerts and other spectacles.

The proposal has been submitted to the authorities of the Canton of Valais and the municipality of Sion for technical review. A public inquiry is expected to take place in mid-2027 to address technical constraints and refine the project.
