FCSB owner Gigi Becali faces scrutiny over unsuccessful player transfers
FCSB owner Gigi Becali is facing scrutiny over recent high-cost football transfers that have failed to yield expected results.
Mamadou Thiam, a French-Senegalese forward, has struggled following his move to the Romanian club. After being acquired from U Cluj for a 50,000 euro fee and receiving a monthly salary of 30,000 euros, Thiam's total investment cost reached approximately 383,000 euros. Since leaving FCSB, he has joined the Turkish second-division side Sariyer, where he has played only 22 minutes across four substitute appearances.
Similarly, midfielder Aymen Boutoutaou, signed from Sochaux for 1.3 million euros, has been placed on the transfer list. Despite being highly scouted by six different officials and described by FCSB board president Mihai Stoica as a top talent, Boutoutaou has not satisfied Becali. The club is now offering the player to rivals such as Dinamo, Rapid, and Universitatea Craiova for 500,000 euros.
