FDA approves daraxonrasib for metastatic pancreatic cancer

The FDA has authorized the use of daraxonrasib, an oral drug designed to target RAS protein mutations, for adult patients with metastatic pancreatic adenocarcinoma. In the phase 3 RASolute 302 clinical trial involving 500 participants, the drug demonstrated a median survival of 13.2 months, compared to 6.7 months for those receiving standard chemotherapy. The treatment also resulted in a 60% reduction in the risk of death.

Separately, medical experts are highlighting the impact of oral risdiplam for the treatment of Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). Valeria Sansone, director of the NeMo Clinical Center, noted that the oral formulation facilitates greater patient autonomy and social reintegration. Unlike some other treatments, this medication does not require temperature-controlled storage and is easily transportable, allowing patients to manage their condition outside of a hospital setting.
