FDR demands systematic publication of Constitutional Council decisions

The Front pour la Défense de la Démocratie et de la République (FDR) has formally requested that the Constitutional Council systematically and equitably publish all of its decisions. In a letter sent to the President of the Council on September 17, 2026, the opposition group highlighted a discrepancy in how different types of rulings are handled.

While contentious decisions are published in the Official Journal and made available online without delay, the FDR claims that advisory decisions (demandes d’avis) do not receive the same treatment. The group cited a specific instance from the July 2024 legislative elections, where a decision rendered on July 10 was not published in the Official Journal until September 6, 2024. The FDR argues this delay provided an unfair advantage to the presidential camp and constitutes a 'flagrant violation of equal access to information' for citizens and political actors.

Additionally, the FDR met with the West African Network of Electoral Management Structures (RESAO) on September 16, 2026, to discuss strengthening electoral frameworks and implementing observer recommendations.
