Federal Civil Service Commission warns of recruitment scams
The Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) has issued a warning to Nigerians regarding fraudulent recruitment messages and links circulating on social media, WhatsApp, and unofficial websites. Scammers are reportedly using mirrored websites and unauthorized messages to mimic official government portals, aiming to harvest personal information such as National Identification Numbers (NIN) and educational certificates, or to extort money through fake processing fees.
The commission clarified that genuine recruitment is never conducted through private agents, middlemen, or individuals claiming to influence shortlisting. According to a statement from Head of Press and Public Relations Ibraheem Zakariyya, official vacancies for positions on Grade Levels 07 to 17 are advertised through established procedures, including three national newspapers and the commission’s official website.
Prospective applicants are advised to ignore any advertisements requesting payment for application forms, appointment letters, or guaranteed employment. The FCSC emphasized that all official recruitment exercises follow transparent, merit-based processes and are announced via recognized national dailies and official government platforms.
