In Paderborn, a 72-year-old man attempted to confront a telephone fraudster after receiving a scam call claiming his daughter had caused an accident and required a five-figure bail payment. The man arranged a meeting and attempted to detain the 22-year-old suspect by handing over worthless items first. A physical altercation ensued, during which the senior was slightly injured. The suspect fled in a vehicle with Polish license plates, but witnesses blocked the car with their own vehicles. Upon verification, KIT confirmed the document was fake. The individual admitted to purchasing the visa for 3,000 euros from a middleman under the promise of employment as a truck driver.
