Operação Swallow arrests four in Bahia and Minas Gerais drug ring bust
Police in Bahia and Minas Gerais conducted ‘Operação Swallow’ to dismantle a criminal organization involved in drug trafficking, money laundering, and homicide. The operation resulted in the arrest of four suspects and the execution of 12 judicial warrants, including eight search and seizure orders.
Investigators identified the group as maintaining territorial control over drug sales in the Monte Santo and Andorinha regions of Bahia. The organization is suspected of moving approximately R$ 5 million, leading authorities to freeze bank accounts linked to the criminal scheme.
The arrests took place across several municipalities, including Andorinha (BA), Araguari (MG), and Uberlândia (MG). Among those detained is a suspected leader in Araguari accused of ordering killings, as well as a couple in Uberlândia—one acting as a manager and the other managing the group’s accounting. A fourth suspect in Andorinha was reportedly responsible for recruiting new sellers and directing violence against debtors.
