Federal Reserve interest rate path hinges on upcoming economic data

Global financial markets are preparing for a significant week of economic data releases that may influence the Federal Reserve’s upcoming interest rate decision on October 28, 2026. Traders are currently pricing in a 64% probability of a 25 basis point rate increase.

Key indicators scheduled for release include August JOLTS job openings, consumer confidence, core PCE inflation, Q2 GDP, ISM manufacturing PMI, and the September jobs report. Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh has noted that “trends matter” and cautioned against over-reliance on single data points.

In addition to US data, the Bank of Japan’s policy minutes are expected to impact global bond markets. The economic reports and more than 20 scheduled Fed speakers are expected to drive volatility in both traditional markets and risk assets, such as Bitcoin, which has recently traded near $84,728.
