Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina doubles disability benefits
Disability benefits in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina have more than doubled during the current mandate of the Federal Minister of Labour and Social Policy, Adnan Delić. Following a second adjustment this year, individuals with a 100 percent disability who qualify for all three primary rights will receive 897.35 KM monthly. This is a significant increase from the 403.37 KM provided at the start of the current mandate.
Prior to these changes, disability benefits had remained frozen for 14 years, dating back to 2009. The Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Policy reported that budgetary allocations for these rights have risen from 142 million KM to 336 million KM during this period. The ministry stated that the new approach aims to link material rights with employment, education, accessibility, and community integration.
The Law on Unique Principles and Framework of Material Support for Persons with Disabilities now governs these benefits, which include personal disability, care allowances, and orthopedic aids. To prevent future long-term freezes, the calculation of these benefits is now tied to 50 percent of the veteran's base.
