Federico Cárdenas Barajas National Painting Contest jury concludes deliberations

The jury for the ‘Federico Cárdenas Barajas’ National Painting Contest has concluded its deliberations. The competition was organized by the Villa de Álvarez City Council in collaboration with the University of Colima to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Federico Cárdenas Barajas, a painter, photographer, actor, writer, and composer born in Villa de Álvarez on September 12, 1926.

The contest invited participation from both Mexican and foreign visual artists who have maintained a minimum documented residency of two years in Mexico. The judging panel, which included representatives from the University of Colima and distinguished visual researchers, evaluated anonymous submissions based on technical quality, originality, composition, and thematic coherence in honor of Cárdenas Barajas’s innovative spirit. The winners are expected to be announced in the coming days.
