Federico Cárdenas Barajas centenary celebrations

Overview

To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Federico Cárdenas Barajas, the Villa de Álvarez City Council and the University of Colima organized the ‘Federico Cárdenas Barajas’ National Painting Contest.

Following the conclusion of jury deliberations, Mayor Tey Gutiérrez Andrade announced the winners. Estíbaliz Valdivia Gallardo, using the pseudonym Donna, took first place with ‘Retablo de los lamentos’. Héctor Miguel Guerrero Aburto (pseudonym Miguelín) earned second place for ‘Atardecer Orgánico’, and Marco Aurelio Rodríguez Vizcaíno (pseudonym MARVizc) received third place for ‘Obelisco Amarillo’.

Other commemorative activities included a discussion on the work ‘El salinero salado’, efforts to digitize three of Cárdenas Barajas’s books, and a scheduled painting exhibition for October.
