Federico Kampf's mural sets Guinness World Record
Mexican artist Federico Kampf has achieved a Guinness World Record for the largest holographic mural in the world. The artwork, titled “Apoteosis: La transformación del hombre en lo divino”, is located at the Auditorio station on Line 7 of the Mexico City Metro.
Spanning 750 square meters, the installation consists of approximately 12,000 polished and painted acrylic strips. The holographic technique allows the piece to present three different visual narratives depending on the observer's angle and movement. Conceptually, the mural blends Mesoamerican mythology, featuring figures such as Quetzalcóatl and Xochipilli, with Greek mythology, including Apollo and Dionysus.
The project was completed in 34 days and was donated by the artist to the Mexico City government. This marks the first Guinness World Record recognized for the Mexico City Metro system in its 57-year history.
