Mexico City Metro holographic mural record
Overview
Artist Federico Kampf has achieved a Guinness World Record for the largest holographic mural in the world. The artwork, titled ‘Apoteosis: La transformación del hombre en lo divino’, is located at the Auditorio station on Line 7 of the Mexico City Metro.
The 750-square-meter installation consists of approximately 12,000 polished and painted acrylic strips. Utilizing a special holographic technique, the piece presents different visual narratives depending on the viewer's angle and movement. Conceptually, the mural blends Mesoamerican mythology, featuring figures such as Quetzalcóatl and Xochipilli, with Greek mythology, including Apollo and Dionysus.
The project was completed in 34 days and was donated by the artist to the Mexico City government. This achievement marks the first Guinness World Record recognized for the Mexico City Metro system in its 57-year history.
