FedEx appoints new Liège hub director and completes $1.4B supply chain sale
FedEx has announced several strategic developments within its global logistics and air operations. Cosmin Coman has been officially appointed as the managing director of the FedEx Liège Air Hub in Belgium. The hub is one of two major European air hubs for the company and processes approximately 75,000 shipments daily with a workforce of nearly 1,400 employees. The facility serves as a critical intercontinental gateway, connecting Europe to major hubs in Memphis, Indianapolis, Oakland, and Guangzhou.
In a separate major transaction, the French logistics group CMA CGM has finalized its $1.4 billion acquisition of FedEx Supply Chain. The contract logistics business will be integrated into Ceva Logistics, a subsidiary of CMA CGM. This acquisition significantly expands Ceva’s footprint in North America, adding approximately 3.1 million square meters of warehouse capacity and nearly 10,000 employees. Additionally, FedEx and CMA CGM have entered into multi-year commercial agreements, including a partnership regarding air freight capacity between Asia and Europe, with CMA CGM serving as a preferred ocean carrier for FedEx.
