CMA CGM acquisition of FedEx Supply Chain
Overview
The French logistics group CMA CGM has finalized the acquisition of FedEx Supply Chain for an enterprise value of approximately $1.4 billion (€1.2 billion). The transaction integrates the contract logistics business into CEVA Logistics, a subsidiary of CMA CGM.
The acquisition significantly expands CEVA Logistics’ footprint in North America, adding roughly 34 million square feet of warehouse capacity and approximately 10,000 employees. This expansion brings CEVA’s total North American presence to more than 240 locations and about 150 warehouses, with a regional workforce totaling around 20,000 people. The merger is intended to combine digital and operational capabilities to increase the use of automation and robotics in the North American network, specifically targeting the healthcare, technology, consumer, and retail sectors.
In addition to the acquisition, FedEx and CMA CGM have established multi-year commercial agreements. Under these non-exclusive arrangements, CMA CGM will act as a preferred ocean carrier for FedEx, and the two companies plan to collaborate on air cargo capacity between Asia and Europe.
