FELDA and FIC corruption probe leads to upcoming MACC arrests
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is launching a series of phased arrests starting next week in connection with investigations into FELDA and FELDA Investment Corporation (FIC). The probe, known as ‘OPS FELLA’, focuses on allegations of corruption, abuse of power, and misappropriation involving investments and asset acquisitions made between 2010 and 2020.
Authorities have opened six new investigation papers and are continuing work on one older, active case involving the Park City Grand Plaza property. The investigations target several high-profile transactions, including the purchase of Dataran Aras Sdn Bhd in Sarawak, the acquisition of Grand Borneo Hotel in Sabah, and the purchase of Grand Plaza Service Apartments in London.
Investigators are specifically looking into claims that assets were purchased at prices significantly exceeding their actual market value, leading to losses for the agencies. So far, 12 individuals have been summoned to assist with the investigation and provide statements.
