FELDA and FIC corruption investigation
Overview
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has launched ‘Ops Fella’, a series of investigations into alleged corruption, abuse of power, and misappropriation of funds involving FELDA and FELDA Investment Corporation (FIC) between 2010 and 2020.
Initial reports indicated that the probe would involve phased arrests following investigations into high-profile asset acquisitions, including properties in Sarawak, Sabah, and London. Authorities have been examining claims that assets were purchased at prices significantly exceeding their market value.
As the investigation progressed, a former FELDA general manager and another individual were remanded for five days to assist with inquiries. This specific line of investigation focuses on the sale of FELDA land and the appointment of a developer for the Kuala Lumpur Vertical City (KLVC) project on Jalan Semarak, amid allegations that land may have been sold to a developer-linked company without the knowledge of the FELDA board of directors.
