Feliciano (Argentina) and Pucón (Chile) activate emergency plans ahead of severe weather

Mayor Damián Arévalo of Feliciano, Argentina, announced a preventive contingency plan as the El Niño phenomenon approaches. The municipality is forming a Municipal Emergency Council to coordinate rapid response, prioritising drainage, critical infrastructure and protection of essential services before the storm arrives.

In Pucón, Chile, Mayor Sebastián Álvarez reported extensive damage after a high‑wind storm, with more than 6,000 residents without electricity and rural farms suffering destroyed greenhouses, poultry sheds and roof collapses. The local government has deployed over 100 officials through an Incident Command structure to restore power, clear roads and support affected families, while preparing for an incoming frontal system that could bring heavy rain.

Both municipalities are focusing on infrastructure repair, electricity restoration and safeguarding residents as they brace for further weather impacts.
