Feminicide trends and victim support measures reported in Paraguay and Bolivia
In Paraguay, the Public Ministry reported 20 victims of feminicide through October 2026, stemming from 19 open cases, including one investigation involving the death of two women. The report also noted 28 attempted feminicides and 36 children identified as indirect victims, 26 of whom are minors. Most incidents occurred in residential settings, with the Central Department recording 12 victims. The perpetrators were primarily current or former partners, though cases involving a stepfather and a son were also noted.
In Bolivia, data reveals that 536 children have been orphaned due to feminicide since 2020. To address this, the government is implementing regulations for Law 1680, which aims to provide integral protection and economic stability to these minors. The law includes provisions for monthly financial assistance, free healthcare, immediate school enrollment, and priority for scholarships. A unified national registry will be established by the Viceministerio de Igualdad de Oportunidades to coordinate support through departmental governments and social services.
