Violence against women in Bolivia
Overview
In mid-September 2026, several incidents of violence against women were reported in Bolivia.
On September 13, a 19-year-old woman was shot and killed in Sacaba, Cochabamba, during an argument with her partner. This incident was identified as the 60th reported feminicide in Bolivia for the year. The suspect was taken into police custody following the discovery of a .32 caliber revolver at the scene.
By September 18, authorities in Quillacollo, Cochabamba, apprehended a 22-year-old man after the bodies of two women, aged 22 and 24, were discovered in a mechanical workshop. The suspect claimed the victims had attempted to steal his belongings, a statement currently under investigation by the Fuerza Especial de Lucha Contra la Violencia (Felcv).
