FEMURO launches project to honor rural women's history in Galicia

FEMURO has launched “O Camiño con Nome de Muller,” a new project supported by the Xunta de Galicia through the “O teu Xacobeo” program. The initiative aims to recover and disseminate the history of rural women in Galicia by connecting their stories to the Camino de Santiago.

The project focuses on both documented historical figures and anonymous women, such as midwives, healers, and seamstresses, who contributed to the social and cultural identity of rural areas. The program will combine short audiovisual content for social media with guided historical walks.

In-person activities are scheduled to begin on October 3 and 4, with initial stops in A Mezquita and A Pousa within the municipality of Monterrei. Subsequent routes are planned for Vilar de Santos and Laza.
