Feneberg supermarkets close temporarily for restructuring

Several Feneberg supermarket locations, including the branch in Kempten, are undergoing temporary closures to facilitate a major restructuring of the insolvent food group. The Kempten Kronenstraße location is scheduled to be closed from August 24 to August 26, 2026, with regular operations resuming on August 27.

These closures are due to a system update required by a change in supply partners. Rewe is replacing Edeka as the primary supplier, necessitating updates to checkout and ordering systems. Consequently, Edeka private labels will be replaced by Rewe brands, such as ‘Ja’.

As part of the restructuring, Rewe is expected to take over approximately 30 Feneberg locations, while another 35 markets will be operated under the Feneberg brand by the newly formed LEH Allgäu GmbH. The company will continue its ‘Von Hier’ brand. Five locations are expected to be closed during this process.
