FenSeg warns electoral vehicle use may void insurance
The National Federation of General Insurance (FenSeg) has warned that using vehicles for political campaign activities or applying electoral decals may lead to the denial of insurance claims. Using a vehicle for campaigns, such as participating in rallies, transporting campaign materials, or moving support teams, is considered an increase in risk that alters the original profile evaluated during the contract signing.
If a driver is involved in a theft, robbery, or collision and it is proven that the vehicle was being used for undeclared electoral purposes, insurers may refuse to pay the indemnity. FenSeg advises drivers to formally notify their insurer or broker before applying decals or using the vehicle for campaign services to request a profile change endorsement.
Additionally, drivers should check if vehicle wrapping exceeds 50% of the surface area, which requires updating the vehicle registration with Detran. It is also noted that damages to decals themselves or losses resulting from riots and vandalism are generally not covered under standard policies.
