Overview

The National Federation of General Insurance (FenSeg) has issued warnings regarding the impact of the 2026 election campaign on auto insurance coverage in Brazil. FenSeg advises that using vehicles for campaign activities—such as participating in rallies, transporting staff, or moving campaign materials—or applying electoral decals may be classified as an increase in risk.

Because these activities alter the risk profile established during the initial contract, insurance companies may refuse compensation for theft, robbery, or collisions if the undeclared electoral use is proven. Furthermore, standard policies typically do not cover damages to decals, wraps, or losses resulting from civil unrest and vandalism.

To maintain coverage, FenSeg recommends that drivers formally notify their insurers or brokers to request a policy endorsement before using vehicles for campaign purposes. Drivers are also advised to verify if vehicle wraps require updated registration with Detran if they exceed 50% of the surface area.
