Ferg addresses dropping A$AP moniker and response to A$AP Rocky

Rapper Ferg has addressed his decision to drop the ‘A$AP’ prefix from his stage name, responding to comments from A$AP Rocky that the move was hurtful. Speaking on the ‘In Motion’ program with Ashley Nicole Moss, Ferg clarified that the change is not a sign of disrespect toward Rocky or the A$AP Mob, but rather a step toward reclaiming his original identity.

Ferg explained that while the ‘A$AP’ moniker was adopted during his time with the collective, he has always been Ferg. He noted that the group members have grown and are now pursuing individual paths, stating, ‘We’re not mobbing anymore.’

He emphasized the importance of personal growth and independence, suggesting that staying constantly attached to the collective's tours and projects might prevent him from discovering his own opportunities. Ferg expressed a desire to establish his own legacy and brand, independent of the group's shadow.
