Fermo achieves eleventh consecutive Blue Flag sustainability award
The coastal area of Fermo has achieved its eleventh consecutive Blue Flag award, a recognition of environmental sustainability and water quality. The award was presented during a ceremony in Campofilone, attended by regional President Francesco Acquaroli and other local officials.
Six municipalities are involved in this achievement, including Porto Sant'Elpidio, Porto San Giorgio, Altidona, and Pedaso. The Blue Flag certification is based on 33 specific criteria evaluated by Fee Italia, covering areas such as waste management, energy use, and accessibility for people with disabilities. Local officials noted that these sustainability efforts, alongside projects like the Adriatic Cycle Path, are expected to bolster local tourism and the regional economy.
