Blue Flag sustainability awards in Marche, Italy
Overview
The Marche region in Italy has received Blue Flag awards for 2026, recognizing excellence in water quality, environmental sustainability, and coastal services.
In the Fermo coastal area, six municipalities—including Porto Sant’Elpidio, Porto San Giorgio, Altidona, and Pedaso—achieved the award, with Fermo marking its eleventh consecutive year of recognition. Local officials noted that these sustainability efforts and projects like the Adriatic Cycle Path are intended to support the regional economy and tourism.
Broadening the scope to the entire region, twenty municipalities in Marche were honored during a ceremony in Campofilone. Notable recipients include Senigallia, which secured its 29th consecutive Blue Flag for the Spiaggia di Velluto, and the Porto della Rovere tourist landing site. Regional President Francesco Acquaroli stated that the awards reflect a collaborative effort between citizens, businesses, and local administrations to enhance the region’s appeal as a tourist destination.
