Fernando Cerimedo arrested in Bolivia for attempted femicide
Fernando Cerimedo, an Argentine political consultant and former adviser to Javier Milei, has been arrested in Bolivia on suspicion of orchestrating an attempted femicide against his former partner, lawyer and activist Nadia Beller.
The attack occurred in Santa Cruz, where two assailants disguised as food delivery workers on a motorcycle shot Beller near a hotel. Beller, who is four weeks pregnant, survived the assault by pretending to be dead. She is currently hospitalized.
Beller has accused Cerimedo of ordering the hit to prevent her from reporting a history of domestic violence and to silence her regarding alleged corruption. She claims to possess evidence of illegal business dealings involving the family of Bolivian President Rodrigo Paz, specifically regarding the trade of fuel and gold. Additionally, Beller alleged that Cerimedo was involved in leaking audio recordings concerning alleged bribery within Argentina’s National Disability Agency (ANDIS).
Cerimedo was apprehended at Viru Viru International Airport while attempting to board a flight to Buenos Aires. Bolivian authorities have issued an arrest warrant for attempted femicide and are investigating potential links to broader corruption and political influence within the Bolivian government. Cerimedo has denied allegations of violence in the relationship.
