Fernando Cerimedo arrested in Bolivia for attempted assassination of ex-partner FAST-MOVING

Fernando Cerimedo, an Argentine political consultant and former advisor to Javier Milei, has been detained in Bolivia on suspicion of orchestrating an attempted assassination of his former partner, lawyer and activist Nadia Beller.

The attack occurred on the night of August 17 in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, near the SwissHotel. Two assailants, disguised as food delivery workers on a motorcycle, shot Beller three times in the chest, neck, and arm. Beller, who is approximately four weeks pregnant, survived the attack by pretending to be dead on the ground. She underwent emergency surgery to remove the 9mm projectiles and remains in intensive care under police guard.

Cerimedo, who also serves as an advisor to Bolivian President Rodrigo Paz and is a co-founder of La Derecha Diario, was intercepted by the Special Force to Fight Crime (FELCC) at Viru Viru International Airport while attempting to board a flight to Buenos Aires. Bolivian prosecutors have upgraded his status to apprehended for the crime of attempted femicide, citing risks of flight and obstruction of justice.

Beller has accused Cerimedo of physical violence, including a previous choking incident, and alleged that he exerts significant influence over the Bolivian government. She also claimed the attackers stole her mobile phone, which she believes contained evidence of corruption and details regarding the attack.
