Fernando Cerimedo arrested in Bolivia on attempted murder charges

Argentine citizen Fernando Cerimedo was arrested at Viru Viru International Airport in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, on August 18. He faces charges of attempted homicide against his ex-partner, Bolivian lawyer Nadia Beller. A judge has ordered 180 days of pretrial detention for Cerimedo following an attack where hitmen, disguised as delivery workers, reportedly fired at Beller at point-blank range. Beller, who was pregnant at the time of the attack, survived the incident.

Beyond the criminal charges, Cerimedo is identified as a central figure in far-right disinformation networks across Latin America. He has been linked to various political movements, including assisting the Bolsonaro family in Brazil with narratives regarding the 2022 elections and operating within political circles in Argentina and Chile. His activities reportedly involve the use of technology and connections to political operatives to influence electoral processes in multiple countries.
