Fernando Cerimedo detained in Bolivia amid assassination and bot farm probe

Fernando Cerimedo, the founder of La Derecha Diario and director of the consultancy Numen, has been detained in Bolivia and placed in preventive prison at Palmasola in Santa Cruz de la Sierra. The arrest follows an alleged attempted assassination of his former partner, Nadia Beller.

Authorities have opened four investigations against Cerimedo, including attempted murder, gender violence, illicit enrichment, and drug trafficking. During the investigation, authorities reportedly discovered a bot farm used for social media manipulation, as well as planes loaded with 500 kilograms of cocaine each, government vehicles with official plates, and satellite phones.

Cerimedo is identified as a key digital strategist for various right-wing political figures across Latin America, including connections to the campaigns of Javier Milei in Argentina and various leaders in Chile, Brazil, and Peru. His operations are linked to the MAGA ecosystem in the United States through his association with Brad Parscale, a digital architect for Donald Trump’s campaigns. The case highlights a broader infrastructure used to export political narratives, segmentation technologies, and digital election interference strategies throughout the region.
