Fernando Cerimedo to be transferred to Chonchocoro prison in Bolivia

Bolivian authorities have rejected legal appeals from Argentine political consultant Fernando Cerimedo, confirming his transfer from Palmasola prison to the Chonchocoro maximum-security facility in La Paz. Cerimedo is currently facing multiple legal proceedings, including investigations for alleged illicit enrichment, money laundering, and a suspected attempted femicide against his former partner, Nadia Beller.

During searches related to his case, authorities reportedly discovered equipment linked to a potential bot farm. This discovery has triggered political repercussions in Chile, where the Chamber of Deputies has approved a special commission to investigate the use of bots, automated accounts, and AI in electoral processes since 2020. The investigation seeks to determine if such digital tools were used to manipulate public opinion during recent campaigns.

Cerimedo's defense has argued that the transfer to Chonchocoro poses risks to his physical integrity and health. Additionally, the consultant has accused Bolivian Vice President Edmundo Lara of exerting political pressure to facilitate his relocation to the high-security prison.
