Fernando Cerimedo detained in Bolivia amid corruption and bot farm investigations
Argentine political consultant Fernando Cerimedo is currently in preventive detention at the Chonchocoro maximum-security prison in Bolivia. He faces an expanded investigation involving charges of illicit profit laundering, material falsehood, usurpation of functions, and the use of falsified instruments.
During a seven-hour interrogation involving over 300 questions, Cerimedo claimed that seized funds originated from Argentina and stated he has documentation to prove it. He also denied receiving a state salary during his time as an advisor to President Rodrigo Paz.
In a separate development, Nadia Beller, Cerimedo's former partner, testified via video call regarding an investigation into the National Agency for Disability (ANDIS) in Argentina. Beller alleged that Cerimedo claimed corruption within the agency was linked to Karina Milei, the sister of President Javier Milei. Beller also provided her mobile phone content to assist investigators.
Additionally, reports indicate that raids on Cerimedo's properties in La Paz uncovered electronic equipment used to operate a bot farm. Investigations have also linked him to potential electoral interference in Peru, with records suggesting he monitored official election results in real-time during the recent presidential cycle.
