Fernando Haddad launches São Paulo governor campaign in Ribeirão Preto

Former Finance Minister Fernando Haddad announced his candidacy for the São Paulo governorship at a rally in Ribeirão Preto, accompanied by President Luiz Inácio Lula. The event, chosen for its agribusiness significance, signals a campaign focus on the state’s interior and aims to counter the support base of former governor Tarcísio de Freitas. Haddad highlighted his 2022 performance in the state capital, where he secured 54.41% of the vote, and noted the strategic importance of the region for his ticket, which also includes former ministers Simone Tebet and Marina Silva.

The next day Haddad addressed a magna aula at Unicamp in Campinas, discussing Brazil’s economic challenges and pledging to deepen dialogue with the interior.
