Fernando Haddad addresses São Paulo election and Banco Master case
Fernando Haddad, the PT candidate for the governorship of São Paulo, has addressed several key aspects of his campaign. Regarding polling, Haddad minimized the potential impact of a first-round defeat against incumbent Tarcísio de Freitas on President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s reelection bid, arguing there is “little automatism” between state and federal results.
Haddad also addressed the Banco Master investigation, calling for the lifting of secrecy regarding inquiries related to the institution and its owner, Daniel Vorcaro. He claimed to have refused multiple requests for meetings with Vorcaro to prioritize public interest. Additionally, during a campaign event in Avenida Paulista, Vice President Geraldo Alckmin joined Haddad in calling for full transparency in the investigations.
In his government plan for the health sector, Haddad proposed the ‘Farmácia Popular 4.0’ to increase medicine availability for low-income populations and initiatives to reduce specialist waiting lists. His platform includes digital integration through electronic medical records and the modernization of SAMU-192 using artificial intelligence.
Meanwhile, Senate race dynamics in São Paulo show a competitive field. While Marina Silva and Simone Tebet lead in some polls, candidates like André do Prado and Guilherme Derrite are also central to the race, with the PT viewing Derrite as a significant threat to their preferred candidates.
