The A2 autobahn section between the Hannover‑West interchange and the Bothfeld junction will be closed for 58 hours on the weekend of 31 July – 3 August 2026, with a second 58‑hour closure scheduled for 7 – 10 August 2026. Drivers are detoured via the A352 to Mellendorf and then the A7 to the Hannover‑Ost interchange.

On 1 August 2026 the Fernpass (B179) in Tyrol will be blocked from 10:00 to 12:00 because of a protest against the planned tunnel project. The Austrian ÖAMTC and ARBÖ warn that the closure will add to already heavy traffic on the Fernpass, the Hahntennjoch route and the A10 in Salzburg and Carinthia.
