Ferrara nursery and Bellaria former factory repurposed under Italy's PNRR programme

The municipality of Ferrara is set to open the new Nido Girasoli nursery on 7 September 2026. Built with funds from Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) and municipal co‑financing, the facility will accommodate 33 children across infant and toddler sections. Assessor for Public Education Chiara Scaramaglid said, “L’apertura del nuovo edificio del Nido Girasoli rappresenta un importante investimento sul futuro della nostra comunità.”

In Bellaria, works financed by the PNRR worth €5.7 million have been completed on the former Vannoni factory. The renovation creates a 300‑seat multipurpose hall, a catering area, offices and a second 200‑seat space, with the chimney secured. Vice‑mayor and public works assessor Francesco Grassi declared, “La Fornace può cominciare a vivere.” Final touches are slated for the summer, with the venue expected to open later in 2026, while a second phase funded by the region will continue through 2027 to add further cultural and flexible spaces.
