Ferrari electric debut triggers 8% stock plunge
Ferrari unveiled its first fully electric model, the Luce, with a price tag exceeding €500,000. The launch, held in Rome, featured a minimalist design by Jony Ive's LoveFrom studio, which was poorly received by enthusiasts and investors. On 26 May 2026 the company's shares fell more than 8% in a single session, erasing several billion euros in market value. Individual shareholders who had invested €10,000 saw losses of roughly €800.
The market shock preceded the resignation of long‑time marketing director Enrico Galliera, who left the firm a month after the presentation and was replaced by a former BMW executive. The Luce boasts 1,050 hp, 0‑100 km/h in 2.5 seconds, a top speed of 310 km/h and a 530‑km electric range, but its stark aesthetic is blamed for the investor backlash. Ferrari has pledged that 20% of its lineup will be electric by 2030.
