Ferrari introduces 12Cilindri Manuale with simulated manual transmission

Ferrari has unveiled the 12Cilindri Manuale, a limited-edition supercar featuring a ‘Manuale By-Wire’ system. While the vehicle includes a traditional gated shifter, clutch pedal, and three-pedal setup, the mechanism is electronically simulated. The system uses sensors to transmit driver commands to an existing eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, allowing for manual control through six forward gears while reserving the seventh and eighth gears for automatic operation.

The decision to implement this technology stems from customer demand for a manual experience without sacrificing the torque, acceleration, or efficiency of the flagship V12 engine. The 12Cilindri Manuale is built on an aluminum chassis that is reportedly 15 percent more torsionally rigid than its predecessor, the 812 Superfast.

Production is strictly limited to 1,499 coupé units. The model carries a significant price premium over the standard automatic versions; for example, in Australia, the Manuale is priced at approximately $1,204,000, compared to $803,500 for the automatic coupé.
