Ferrari launches 849 Testarossa hybrid supercar with 1,050 hp

Ferrari unveiled the 849 Testarossa, a plug‑in hybrid berlinetta that replaces the SF90 Stradale. The car combines a revised 4.0‑litre twin‑turbo V8 delivering 830 hp with three electric motors for a total output of 1,050 hp, making it the most powerful production Ferrari to date. It accelerates from 0‑100 km/h in 2.3 seconds, tops out above 330 km/h and can travel up to 25 km on electric power alone.

The model was launched in Jakarta, Indonesia, where Ferrari Indonesia highlighted its 1,050 hp figure, four‑wheel‑drive system and a 7.45 kWh lithium‑ion battery. Pricing and delivery details were not disclosed locally. In Australia, Ferrari expects the Spider convertible, priced about AU$1.02 million (roughly US$660 k), to outsell the coupe despite a higher price and added weight, citing distinct buyer profiles for each body style. The Spider’s roof can retract in 14 seconds at up to 45 km/h.

International test drives in Spain and the United States noted the car’s blend of classic Ferrari cues with modern aerodynamics, a retractable hardtop, and advanced driver‑assist systems. The 849 Testarossa’s name references the historic “red‑head” Ferrari lineage, while the numeric designation reflects its eight cylinders and 499 cc per cylinder.
