Ferrari Luce electric supercar sells for record $40 million

The Ferrari Luce, the brand’s first electric supercar, sold for a record-breaking $40 million at a Sotheby’s auction in Monterey, California. The sale was driven by the unique nature of the vehicle, which is the first electric model from Maranello and features a bespoke “Madreperla Semi-Gloss” paint finish and “Le Mans” metallic leather interior.

Philanthropist Herbert Wertheim, also known as “Dr. Herbie,” purchased the “Chassis 0” specimen. The auction began at $1.1 million and saw intense bidding, with increments reaching several million dollars at a time. While the sale represents a massive marketing success for the Ferrari brand, it is not expected to dictate the broader commercial trajectory of the Luce model.
