Spa-Francorchamps 2026 Belgian Grand Prix: driver comments, weather outlook and tire choices

The 2026 Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix takes place at Spa‑Francorchamps from 17 to 19 July. The weekend follows the traditional format with two free‑practice sessions on Friday, a third practice and qualifying on Saturday, and the 44‑lap race on Sunday – no sprint race is scheduled. Pirelli will supply the C2, C3 and C4 tyre compounds, noting the circuit’s long straights, high‑speed corners and the micro‑climate that can produce wet patches.

Weather models have improved, showing a high chance of rain on Friday but a dry track for Saturday qualifying and Sunday’s race, easing strategic concerns. Drivers have offered varied perspectives: Charles Leclerc praised Ferrari’s recent work after his Silverstone win but still sees Mercedes as the favourite at Spa; Lewis Hamilton said he has stopped using the Ferrari simulator, believing the change has helped his recent form; other drivers such as Kimi Antonelli, George Russell and Max Verstappen are also in contention for the championship.

Brazilian racers Gabriel Bortoleto, Emmo Fittipaldi, Rafael Câmara, Fefo Barrichello and Pedro Clerot will compete in the supporting Formula 2, Formula 3 and Porsche Supercup events at the same venue.
