Ferrari unveils EV Luce, then a limited-edition V12 manual car

Ferrari introduced the Luce, its first full‑electric vehicle, in May. The minimalist design sparked a wave of memes and criticism online, and the company's chief marketing and commercial officer left about a month later. Despite the backlash, the Luce has secured orders through the end of 2027, with the Chinese allocation of roughly $586,000 units reportedly sold immediately. Deliveries are set to begin in October, and the model will represent a portion of Ferrari’s target of 20% fully electric models by 2030. Ferrari’s share price fell 6% on the unveiling day but rebounded to be up more than 10% the following day.

A few weeks after the EV launch, Ferrari announced the 12Cilindri Manuale, a limited‑edition, front‑engined grand tourer featuring a 6.5‑litre V12 delivering 830 hp and a “manual‑by‑wire” three‑pedal system. Production is capped at 1,499 units, priced at €590,000 (about $672,000) in Italy, with deliveries slated for the first quarter of next year. The model underscores Ferrari’s commitment to preserving traditional combustion‑engine performance alongside its electrification plans.
