Ferrero unveils new product lines at second Innovation Day
Ferrero has announced several new product developments for the Italian market during its second Innovation Day, marking the company's 80th anniversary. A primary focus of the expansion is the biscuit and breakfast sectors, moving the company beyond its traditional chocolate and spreadable cream core.
Key highlights include the launch of Nutella cookies, which feature a slow-baking process and individual packaging to maintain quality for on-the-go consumption. The company plans a large-scale sampling campaign across Italy involving 120,000 units. Additionally, Ferrero is expanding its Wonka brand, utilizing production capabilities from its acquired UK facility in Alfreton.
The company's strategy involves leveraging recent acquisitions, such as WK Kellogg Co and CPK, to diversify into the sweet packaged food market. In Italy, adjacent markets including biscuits, ice cream, and breakfast items now generate 8.1 billion euros, more than double the 3.3 billion euros produced by traditional chocolate and Nutella products.
